Microdosing

What is Microdosing?

Microdosing with truffles involves taking a very small, controlled dose—in our case, psilocybin—approximately 1/10th of a standard dose.

This method allows you to experience the positive effects without any overwhelming sensations or side effects.

The benefits are subtle yet impactful, such as improved focus, clarity, and creativity, all while avoiding any intense or distracting effects. Microdosing supports your well-being without disrupting your daily life.

Is Microdosing Addictive?

No, microdosing is not considered addictive.

It has been scientifically demonstrated that the truffles that we use do not cause psychological addiction.

Since the doses are very small and the effects are subtle, there's no intense craving or dependency that can develop. However, as with any wellness practice, it’s important to listen to your body and use it mindfully, taking breaks as needed to maintain balance.

What is Psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring compound found in certain types of mushrooms, often referred to as "magic mushrooms."

When consumed, psilocybin is converted by the body into psilocin, which interacts with the brain's serotonin receptors. This interaction can lead to changes in perception, mood, and thought processes.

While higher doses can produce intense experiences, small doses of psilocybin have been shown to offer subtle benefits such as improved focus, creativity, and emotional well-being, without causing a "trip." It’s commonly used for its potential mental health benefits and cognitive enhancements.

Is Microdosing Legal?

Psilocybin truffles are 100% legal in the Netherlands where BIEN is based and can be shipped to any EU country under the Mutual Recognition of Goods Act.

This EU law allows legal importation from one member state to another, regardless of legality in the importing country. However each country have their own interpretation of this rule. We advise you to make your own informed decision.

Will I Feel Under the Influence?

No, you won't feel "under the influence" when microdosing.

Since the dose is very small—about one-tenth of a regular dose—you won’t experience any intense or overwhelming effects. Instead, the benefits are subtle and occur on a sub-perceptual level.

You may notice improvements in focus, mood, creativity, and energy, but you’ll still be fully in control of your thoughts and actions, able to go about your day as usual without any disruptions.

How much should I take for my first dose?

If you’re taking a microdose for the first time, it’s important to start slowly and mindfully.

Your body’s response can vary based on factors like weight, age, and overall health.

You will receive six Peace in the Chaos Microdose, each containing 1 gram. For some people, 1 gram may feel too strong initially, so we suggest starting with 0.25 to 0.5 grams (a quarter or half of one strip). This allows you to gauge how your body responds. If you feel the dose isn’t strong enough, you can gradually increase it, even going beyond 1 gram if needed.

Tip: If you feel like you’ve taken a bit more than you intended, don’t worry—nothing harmful will happen. The doses are very low and safe, and you may just notice a slight decrease in focus or productivity.

Tip: If you're unsure whether you’ve taken too much, remember that as long as microdosing helps you feel more focused and productive, you're in the right range. Start low and gradually increase until you find your ideal dose.

Can I Microdose and Drink Alcohol?

While it’s not prohibited to drink alcohol while microdosing, we don’t recommend it.

Combining alcohol with a microdose can impact your judgment and perception, which could reduce the positive effects you’re hoping to experience. Excessive alcohol may hinder the subtle benefits of microdosing, like increased focus, creativity, and energy.

For the best experience, we suggest using your microdose in a sober state. This way, you’ll fully enjoy the enhanced productivity, clarity, and overall well-being that microdosing can offer.

Can I Microdose and Consume Weed?

We do not recommend combining microdosing with cannabis, as it may interfere with the effects of the microdose.

Cannabis can alter your perception and energy levels, which might reduce the subtle benefits you’re hoping to experience from microdosing.

For the best results, we suggest keeping them separate to fully enjoy the positive effects of Microdosing.

Can I Microdose and Work?

Yes, you can absolutely microdose and work.

In fact, many people find that microdosing helps enhance focus, creativity, and productivity.

The subtle effects of microdosing are designed to improve cognitive function without overwhelming your senses, allowing you to stay clear-headed and perform your tasks effectively. Just be sure to find the right dose that works for you, and always listen to your body.

Can I Microdose when I have ADHD?

Yes, some of our customers who microdose have ADHD.

While the precise effects of microdosing on ADHD haven't been clinically studied, ADHD and ADD are considered variations in cognition rather than medical disorders.

Microdosing can improve focus, creativity, and mental clarity, which may be helpful for those experiencing concentration challenges or procrastination.

Several of our customers with ADHD and ADD have reported positive experiences, finding it sometimes more effective than traditional cognitive enhancers like Ritalin, Adderall, or methylphenidate.

It's important to note that conventional medications don't always have the desired effect, and more medical professionals are exploring microdosing as a potential alternative. However, we cannot provide medical advice, and clinical evidence is still lacking. If you have ADHD or ADD, we recommend using microdosing responsibly and consulting with your doctor or our expert, Dr. Garcia Padron, to ensure it's right for you.

Can I Microdose and Drive?

While microdosing is generally safe for many activities, including driving, we strongly advise against driving the first time you microdose.

Microdosing involves a psychotropic substance, and individual reactions may vary. If you experience any changes in perception, focus, or coordination, we recommend refraining from driving or operating heavy machinery.

Always make responsible and informed decisions, and ensure you are in full control before engaging in activities that require concentration or attention.

Can I Microdose while Pregnant or Breastfeeding?

No, we do not recommend microdosing during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Due to the lack of sufficient research and data on the safety of microdosing in these conditions, we advise against it.

Your health and well-being are our top priority, and we strongly encourage you to consult with your healthcare provider before considering any new supplement or practice during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It’s always better to err on the side of caution to ensure the best possible outcome for both you and your baby.

Can I Microdose while taking Antidepressants?

We do not recommend combining microdosing with antidepressants or SSRIs without first consulting your doctor or our in-house doctor.

However, emerging studies are increasingly highlighting the promising potential of psilocybin as a treatment for depression. As always, it's important to work closely with your healthcare provider or our expert to ensure that any supplement or treatment is safe and appropriate for your individual needs.

Can I Microdose and Workout?

Yes, microdosing can enhance your performance by boosting cognitive function.

As a result, many people notice improved performance in sports, with greater body awareness that helps you get into a natural rhythm.

Top athletes who microdose report benefits such as:

  • Improved concentration
  • Better coordination
  • Enhanced balance
  • Quicker reflexes

Additionally, microdosing can increase your overall athletic capabilities, including reducing fatigue. Some users even find it easier to enter a flow state—where time seems to slow down, and everything feels effortless. Others choose to microdose after exercise, experiencing a calm, clear, and relaxed feeling post-workout

Can I Microdose while I’m on Antibiotics?

No, it is not recommended to microdose while taking antibiotics.

Your brain contains numerous neurons that communicate through synapses, and combining medications with microdosing may interfere with these processes. The neurotransmitters involved can be disrupted by the stimuli, potentially leading to undesirable effects. Additionally, your immune system may react to microdosing, which could cause symptoms like feeling warm, unwell, or fatigued.

While certain combinations may be safe, it’s always best to consult with your doctor before considering microdosing, especially when you're taking antibiotics or other medications. Also, be sure to stay hydrated if you choose to microdose.

How Should I Store my Microdose?

We recommend storing your microdoses in the refrigerator.

When sealed (vacuum-packed), they will remain effective for up to two months. If there’s no space in the fridge, store them in a cool, dry, and dark place to minimize the risk of spoilage or a reduction in psilocybin content.

Since the truffles we use for microdosing are fungi, they should be kept at a temperature of 2 to 4°C. Avoid freezing and always leave the strips in their packaging. This helps prevent moisture from affecting the truffles, as excess moisture could lead to contamination and a loss of potency.

What are the Side Effects of Microdosing?

The side effects of microdosing are generally mild, as the doses are very small.

However, individual responses may vary. Some potential side effects can include:

Headaches: Some users report mild headaches, especially when starting or adjusting their dose.

Nausea: Mild nausea may occur, especially if the microdose is taken on an empty stomach. If you experience any nausea, try taking it with your breakfast.

Fatigue: A few people might feel more tired or sluggish than usual.

As with any supplement or practice, it’s important to start slowly, listen to your body, and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Who Should Avoid Microdosing with Psilocybin?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding:
Due to the lack of research on the effects of psilocybin during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it is advised to avoid its use during these times.

If you suffer from mental health disorders:
If you have a history of severe mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or any other serious psychiatric conditions, it’s important to avoid psilocybin. The effects of psilocybin can potentially exacerbate symptoms or lead to unpredictable reactions, which may worsen your condition.

If you have feelings of deep depression:
If you are currently experiencing deep depressive feelings or are in a vulnerable emotional state, it’s advisable to refrain from using psilocybin. While psilocybin has shown promise in treating depression in certain contexts, its effects can be intense, and it may not be suitable during a period of emotional instability or vulnerability. Always consult with a healthcare professional if you're unsure about your emotional state and microdosing.

If you have any underlying cardiovascular conditions:
If you have any heart-related conditions or a history of cardiovascular issues, consult with your healthcare provider before considering psilocybin. Psilocybin can affect blood pressure and heart rate, which may pose risks for those with cardiovascular problems.

If you are using certain medications or substances:
Certain medications and substances can interact with psilocybin, potentially leading to adverse effects. Avoid combining psilocybin with the following:

  • MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors): These medications can interact with psilocybin and cause serious side effects.
  • Lithium: Used to treat mood disorders, combining lithium with psilocybin could be dangerous.
  • Valproic acid: This medication is used to treat seizures and bipolar disorder and may have negative interactions with psilocybin.
  • Haloperidol: This antipsychotic medication can interfere with the effects of psilocybin.
  • St. John's Wort: This herbal supplement, commonly used for depression, may interact with psilocybin and affect how your body processes the substance.

Always consult a healthcare provider before combining psilocybin with any medication or supplement to ensure it is safe for you.

What is the Microdosing Protocol?

We follow the Fadiman protocol, which is the most extensively researched microdosing regimen to date.

This protocol suggests a balanced approach to microdosing, ensuring both effectiveness and safety.

The 2-6-2 guideline is simple to remember: take one microdose twice a week for six weeks, then take a two-week break before starting a new cycle. This cycle helps maintain the positive effects of microdosing while preventing tolerance buildup.
